We believe that people should get paid for their work.

We visit the prisons we are partnering with each month, meeting with artists and welcoming their expert guidance on how to expand, sustain and improve this initiative.

We’ve heard that artists are diverse and have different wishes! Some artists are interested in selling their work, while others hope to use the sale of their art to raise funds for specific organizations and initiatives, such as programming to support Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls & 2SLGBTQIA peoples. Still others ask that we take resulting funds and purchase more art supplies, to help ensure ongoing access for others in prison.

We are actively working with our partners in the Correctional Service of Canada to develop ways to support artists and storytellers and sustain the project over time.
